Dawn Larned

Massage Therapy

Dawn Larned, LMT #20637, has investigated movement and the body for the past twenty years. A degree in physical theater and work as a choreographer, honed her understanding of alignment, breath centering and physical acuity. As a yoga teacher for ten years certified in Kundalini, Hatha, and Prenatal she has experience in physical adjustments, posture analysis, and body mechanics, as well as meditation, focus, pranayama and mind/body integration. She attended East West College of the Healing Arts for her massage licensure. And she considers herself a complete anatomy fanatic with a particular interest in fascial lines of tension through the body, how one works with those to create balance, and how that relates to the energetic system of the body. Her massage work incorporates Tuina (Chinese Sports Massage), Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue, and Trigger Point Therapy with Swedish to integrate the work and encourage circulation. She is certified in Bodywork for the Childbearing Year via Kate Jordan, an advanced certification in massage techniques focusing on wellness and recovery for women in the prenatal, birth, and postnatal stages of life. Dawn came to study bodywork after a healing experience with massage in regards to the birth of her twin daughters. She is also scheduled to train in Chi Nei Tsang (Chinese Abdominal Massage), Lomi Lomi, and CranialSacral Therapy this year. And is dedicated to continuous education in this field in order to better serve her clients. Dawn remains ever curious about the body, how we care for it, what it is trying to tell us, and how it holds our history; and she considers each session an exploration into your unique physical terrain. She believes in working with the client as a team to create a session that suits the individual. Her sessions are active and require communication between therapist and client to fully gain insight into the body and its needs. She believes that her role is to aid the body in its own natural process of healing and homeostasis. A regular massage practice encourages greater healing, power, alignment, suppleness, and balance in the body. It keeps the joints and fascia fluid so that as we age we encounter less of the stiffness and creakiness that can occur. And most of all, it is a way to honor your body for all that it does for you in your daily life.
